Move Beyond Mind: Somatic Dance Amsterdam
A Conscious Embodiment Journey Home to Yourself.
Trauma-Sensitive Movement, Nervous System Regulation & Authentic Expression.
Move Beyond Mind is a living project dedicated to sensitive, reflective humans who long to reconnect with their bodies, their boundaries and their inner worlds. In the heart of Amsterdam West, we create a sanctuary where movement becomes a pathway to safety, authenticity and connection.

Somatic Dance: Your Body Already Knows the Way
Do you sometimes feel "stuck in your head" or overwhelmed by high-intensity spaces?
Somatic Dance at 'Move Beyond Mind' is not about performing or "looking cool." It is a trauma-sensitive space where dance becomes a way of expressing from the inside out. Here, we move at the meeting point of nervous-system integration and embodied expression.
Whether we are finding our groove or meeting the Protectors of the Heart, your pace is honored, and transformation can unfold through subtlety, not pressure.
Is Somatic Dance for you?
This movement space is for anyone longing for deep, embodied dance, self-discovery and genuine connection.
Somatic Dance is especially for you if you’ve ever felt:
♥ anxious or stuck in your head in group spaces
♥ disconnected from your body
♥ drawn to slower, non-performance-oriented movement
♥ ready to release people-pleasing and fawning
♥ curious about deeper layers of your body’s inner world
Somatic Dance Experiences: What to Expect
Each session offers a new doorway into your body. We move through:
- Creative Inner Voyages: Guided journeys that use metaphor and "Quests" to explore your felt sense.
- Slow, Intentional Practice: Grounding rituals and solo movement to stabilize your nervous system.
- Relational Movement: Nourishing small-group practices (max. 15-20 people) to feel safe with others without people-pleasing or over-performing.
- The Witnessing Circle: A space to be seen and safely take up space, always on your own terms.
Benefits of Somatic Dance
Somatic Dance is a practice of "un-learning" tension and "re-learning" presence. Regular practice supports you in:
- Regulating the Nervous System: Softening patterns of anxiety, freeze, or overwhelm.
- Sensing Boundaries: Learning to feel safe in your own space while remaining connected to others.
- Deep Connection: Giving a voice to the hidden, quiet parts of you that don't have words yet.
- Authentic Aliveness: Discovering deeper layers of joy, curiosity and internal clarity.
Core Principles of Somatic Dance
At Somatic Dance, the "container" is as important as the dance. Our work is guided by these pillars:
- You Are the Authority: Every prompt is an invitation, never a command. You choose how deep to go.
- Titration & Pacing: We move slowly and non-cathartic. We work in "small bites" so your nervous system stays oriented and safe.
- Non-Performance Oriented: We move for the feeling, not the look. There is no "being good" here.
- Safe & Sober Container: A non-verbal, barefoot/ socks, and substance-free space to ensure pure presence.
- Radical Inclusion: All bodies, all levels, and all "grooves" are welcome.
- Your pace, your space, your movement.
